Pregnancy transforms and changes a woman’s body so, she become vulnerable some pathologies. In rural area, the traditional pharmacopeia is the solution often adopted. The ethnobotanical study that we carried out in the Tiapoum department showed that this population has a great deal of knowledge about obstetric care. 8 villages were surveyed, enabling 80 people to be interviewed, regardless of age and sex. This study showed that the surveyed populations employed 46 plant species belonging to 32 botanical families and distributed in 45 type to treat many pathologies found in pregnant woman, the most frequent of which are malaria, anemia and obstetric disorders. Among these families, the Euphorbiaceae with 9.5% of the plants surveyed were the most represented. Herbs (39%) are the most representative morphological types. Most species belong to the species of the Guinea-Congolese GC area (38%) and the Sudano-Zambézienne area (GC-SZ) with 35% of the species collected. Plants were classified according to different stages of pregnancy. Thus, those used throughout the duration of pregnancy represented 38.1%. The organs most used are the leaves with 53.2%. Most remedies are taken to oral use (40%) and decoction (54.6 %) is preferentially recommended for the administration of recipes formulated from a where a combination of plants. These results provide a database for subsequent studies to evaluate the chemical and biological potential of these plants.
